Traditional South African Braai
The Roof deck at The Charles is an idyllic venue, with beautiful city views, especially late afternoon on a windless night when the city lights up and the evening comes alive. Famous for their festive "chop & dop" evenings, The Charles can host a traditional South African Braai, made to order for up to 25 guests.
On the grill expect some sosaties; a traditional South African entrée of Cape Malay origin derived from 'sesate' (skewered meat), and 'sate' (spicy sauce), lamb chops and Boerewors, a type sausage popular in South African cuisine, from Afrikaans word 'boer' (farmer) and 'wors' (sausage). Accompaniments include fresh salads including traditional potato salad, seasonal fruit and 'mieliepap', a ground and crumbed boiled maize (a traditional staple food of most African people).
And while the fire is cooking, taste some of the Cape's finest wines, introduced to you by a local wine expert. Sit back and nibble on some freshly baked bread with homemade pâtés whilst soaking up the views and experiencing the pulse of the city.
